Canada dominates the X-Games

Street Podium - (left to right) Louis Felix-Paradis, Nic Sauve

ESPN would say that this years Winter X-Games was the biggest to date. Being viewed in 234 million homes across 154 countries. It was a huge audience to see the Canadian riders showcase their skills and show that they are a competitor in freestyle snowboarding

In the newly added Street event, 1st place was won by Quebec born Nic Sauve followed by fellow Canadians Louis Paradis and Simon Chamberlain. Also competing in the event were JP Walker and Jeremy Jones.

Torstein Horgmo

The next event to take place was Slopestyle and once again it was taken over by the Canadian born boys. 18 year old Seb "Toots" Toutant took first followed by Marc McMorris from Regina. The next major event was Big Air and Mr. Horgmo blew the crowd away with the first triple cork to ever be thrown down in competition. Toots took second and McMorris was just off the podium in forth. It's nice to see the Canadians taking competition seriously.

Shawn White "surprisingly" won Superpipe with fellow americans, Scotty Lagos and Louie Vito in second and third. Other canadians to place were Kevin Hill from Vernon, British Columbia in Snowboard Cross.

Rainman's Wet Mix

Rainman just dropped his new Wet Mix on THEKNWLDG.com and this time he's made it a 2 PART BANGER! First mix being an Electro/House assassin aside a filthy Dubstep mix. Check them out below, these should please your music craving for a while.

ENVƎ: Alex G

Recently riding for ENVƎ is another Island boy who migrated north to good old Whistler. Alex Grant is from Parksville and has been skiing Mt. Washington for the last couple of years. He always throws down and he's always sending it to the next level. Now tired of the smaller mountain it's time to step it up to bigger and better things. We are definitely stoked to have Alex on the team and we can't wait to see how far he progresses.

Here is what he had to say:

"ENVƎ is a Lifestyle."

It's about going out and partying hard, and the next day still dragging our drunk asses up the mountain. I love ripping the slopes with Ottosen, first hit at 1pm with barely any sleep and he still goes bigger than anyone around... Really inspiring.

So stoked to hang out with so many people from Van Isle. Jackson, Drew, and Garrett are some of the realist cats I've ever got to meet.

Shout out to my little bro who is going to university in Squamish. Really proud of him.

In the words of Sheldon Bond. "It's a long road" and if you want anything in life. Start today. It takes time to make shit right.

Big love to everyone on the island! We're out here repping you guys. Hope all is well back home.

Really looking forward to some of the stuff our enve CEO's have planned. Look out for road trips, photo shoots, vids, new apperal, and all the shows set up for the near future.

Thanks for reading and supporting.
A.G.

UK is Bloody

As of late, Fakeblood has been playing some new artists in his sets. One of those lucky artists is the dirty tuned Screendeath. Scope his EP "Packback", it's wicked. Screendeath, who is from the UK, has come out with some huge remixes: AC Slater's - Hello and MSTRKRFT's - Click Click. Get your hands on as much of this kids stuff as you can.

Speaking of Fakeblood, his new record label, Blood Records, just acquired "Clouds" another Electro DJ from the beautiful United Kingdom. Clouds' EP "Manful Sir/Liquid" is pretty damn sick too. It seems as if the UK is doing alright when it comes to new artists on the scene. Look out for these guys cause they are going to be big.

Monster Energy presents "The Show"

The Telus Ski & Snowboard Festival is an annual event in Whistler and it just got a bit better. Now to follow the Grenade Games and The Westbeach Classic comes the newly introduced "The Show" put on by Monster. The event begins on April 15th with registration at 11am and then Monster will be putting on "The SH*T Show", Monsters welcome party featuring live music and drinks at 10pm. Plus you can party with some of the worlds best riders.

In the nights to follow there will be a Monster Grand Opening, a massive Saturday night shred fest. Soon as the sun sets the party begins with a freestyle contest, cutting edge music and lights. Monster is really putting it all out there. On Sunday, Monday and Tuesday there will be lots of fun shit to do and see.

Sunday: Mogul Mash
"We invented this event a couple years ago and as far as we’re concerned it’s the best way to spend a slushy Spring Sunday in Whistler.  Head to head slalom through a mogul course while all your friends cheer, music pumps, and hotdogs fill the grill."

Monday: Boarderstyle
"Who says snowboard contests never change? How do you feel about 4 riders, head to head, racing through a couple boardercross berms and then launching a giant booter? All at the same time. This event is judged and timed so the best trick has to be better than the fastest rider."

Tuesday: Dustin Craven's FUN Pipe Jam / The Sideshow
"Dustin Craven would like to cordially invite you to his version of a halfpipe contest. If you don’t know the inside of Dustin’s brain, then be prepared to experience a unique interpretation of transition riding from one of the true characters in snowboarding.  Our “tap out” format keeps it lively, as crappy runs will earn you a trip to the spectator gallery.  Last man standing takes home the BIG CHECK!"

"You can’t have a really big show without the sideshow. This party not only encourage everyone to dress up like their favourite sideshow, uh, “personality”, we’ll have some of the best sideshow acts in the world doing shows all night. Did you miss the early 90’s? Here’s your chance to experience it again."

THE ELEVEN

The Netherlands have done it again. This time with DJ Kalok better known as The Eleven. Kalok used to be a member of Prowley Burglars and is now doing his solo thing releasing a new EP with Southern Fried Records. Other members of Southern Fried Records includes the likes of Armin Van Helden and the Crookers so we're expecting big things from this man. His Fidget/Electro sound is displayed nicely in his recently released Illuminati Mixtape.

Dew Tour heads to Killington

Today marks the start of Dew Tour's 2nd stop, in Killington, Vermont. At the first stop Torstein through down at slopestyle nabbing first with a score of 96.5.  Marc McMorris and Chad Guldemond are trailing in second behind Horgmo. Louie Vito leads men superpipe. Right behind him is Matt Ladley and Greg Bretz.

Hopefully some new tricks are thrown at this second stop. I have a feeling slopestyle is going to get competitive. Check your listings to see if you can catch this on your telly, you don't wanna miss it.

A Peak at A-Trak's Studio.

Ever imagine where the minds behind electro music make their tunes? Well I'm not sure about where everyone else makes their stuff but if you watch this video, you can take a tour of this Ducksauce member, A-Trak's, "pretty" brand new studio. He definitely has a sick set-up.

Barletta

This Scarborough born DJ is really making a name for himself on the internet. His songs have been featured on almost every blog and has gained some huge attention from some big names in the game like the Crookers. He has made some rockin club remixes as well as some bangin original tracks. Barletta is releasing his new EP "Come Down" off Burner Records February 17, there is a little preview below. We are hoping that this East Coaster will be able to make it to our side of the rock in the near future and ENVƎ might have a little something to do with that. We will have more on Barletta soon, stay tuned.

Rainman Remixes The Jackson 5

Do I ever have great news today! Rainman has released his first production of 2011. This time, bringing us all the way back to 1970, with his remix of "ABC" by The Jackson 5. In typical Rainman fashion, this track is an electro/house masterpiece. And if this is even a small indicator of what he has in store for us this year, then be expecting BIG things.

I can tell you that his much anticipated EP will soon be dropping on Beatport. But everything else Rainman has up his sleeves will remain a mystery for now. So keep yourself posted in the upcoming weeks for future announcements.

Enjoy.

Burton Proto Lab is Now Open

Last thursday Burton's CEO Jake Burton cut the ribbon on the new Craig Kelly Proto Lab which is attached to their Burlington headquarters. The 10,000 sq ft facility is dedicated to long time Burton Rider, Craig Kelly. "Craig was an engineer at heart" says Jake "and that's one of the biggest reasons he chose to ride with us, because we were so committed to taking snowboard technology to the next level."

The Facility will allow riders to give their feedback, build a custom prototype and them take it to the slopes the next day. Even though the facility is able to produce thousands of boards it is only going to be used to enhance Burton Technology. I'm excited to see what comes out of it.

Success

ENVƎ's first event "Re-Dub This" was a major success to say the least. We sold out Spice Lounge,
got some people in some sick tall tee's and had a wicked night with awesome music. If you weren't
able to make it out, don't worry. You will just have to wait till our next event but while you are waiting
here's a little taste of Re-Dub.

Torstein

We all have to agree that Torstein Horgmo is one of the best riders in the scene today. A few weeks ago I saw Horgmo's ridiculous "North Star Run" filmed for Standard Films. I have to say that this is one of the most epic runs I've seen and feel it necessary to share it with all of y'all!

Introducing Evan McCurrie

Recently we have been working on our sponsored team. As of now we have Andrew Ottosen riding for us on the snow, and now Evan McCurrie on the dirt. Stay tuned for more riders being introduced soon!

 Evan McCurrie

"I have been riding for about 8 years now and 2011 is going to be a crazy year for me!
I have about 6 comps I am planning to go to all around the states, and also B.C for this year.
As important as Whistler is for snowboarders in the winter, is exactly the same for
me biking in the spring/summer. Lets not forget about the warm weather and the hot ladies up there!
I like to ride Downhill and jumps preferably but when it comes to any style of riding I can hop on it and have the time of my life! I am so lucky to have grown up on Van Island because the riding here is like no other place in the world, and everyone kills it! I'm stoked on ENVE being on board as well as a few other sponsors I'm working on at the moment. Its just gonna get better and better from here on!"

Little Buildings

Evol is a Berlin based street artist who is making a big statement with these little buildings. Evol has transformed such things as mail boxes, ATM's, planters into these soviet-style block towers. They're a reminder of the "ugly past and failures of Modernism in Europe". Whatever they represent, i think they are really something. Enjoy.
